Today, the regional festival of epic poetry titled “Pearls of Epic Poetry Strung on the Dombra” was held at the District House of Zhyrau in honor of the respected public figure and well-known zhyrau Shamshat Tolepova, who continued the tradition of female epic singers.

During the spiritual and cultural event, which brought together performers preserving the zhyrau tradition of the Syr region and upholding the purity of traditional art, the Deputy Akim of the district Dias Moldabayev delivered a congratulatory speech and wished the participants success. He also emphasized the importance of generational continuity in preserving the zhyrau tradition.

Shamshat Tolepova, a successor to the legacy of the Syr poets and a devoted supporter of the zhyrau tradition, dedicated her life to her people. Accompanying herself with the sacred dombra, she began performing at the age of 12 and continued to present poetic masterpieces to her people throughout her life.

Participants who continue her artistic path demonstrated the vitality and enduring nature of the traditional zhyrau art during the festival.

Nearly 10 performers from different settlements took part in the event, presenting traditional terme and tolgau performances on stage that deeply moved the audience.

At the end of the cultural evening, veteran of the education sector Erkin Atabayev expressed his warm wishes and presented special awards to all participants of the poetry festival.

It should be noted that this festival dedicated to the renowned flowing-style zhyrau Shamshat Tolepova has been held regularly since 2010.
