Akmola Region Strengthens International Cooperation in Tourism

As part of the Dala Carbon Forum 2026, the Akim of the Akmola Region, Marat Akhmetzhanov, together with the Head of the Tourism Department, Andrey Podgurskiy, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aleška Simkič, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sally Axworthy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation, with a particular focus on tourism development. The regional delegation presented the tourism potential of the Akmola Region, including its natural attractions, resort areas, and opportunities for sustainable tourism.
It was noted that the region is actively developing its infrastructure and remains open to international investment, including in the tourism sector. Investor support is provided through specialized development institutions.
The resort potential of the region generated particular interest among international partners. Representatives of the United Kingdom noted that the Akmola Region could become an attractive destination for European tourists.
The meeting confirmed the mutual interest of the parties in strengthening international cooperation and promoting the region’s tourism potential on the global stage.
