Kazakhstan elected to the United Nations Statistical Commission

New York, 8 April 2026 – Kazakhstan has been elected for the first time to the United Nations Statistical Commission for the term 2027-2030.
The United Nations Statistical Commission is the central intergovernmental body of the global statistical system. It sets international standards in the field of statistics, coordinates the work of national statistical offices, and ensures the comparability of data at the global level. The Commission also plays a key role in monitoring the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and in shaping the international agenda on data and statistics.
Kazakhstan’s election reflects international recognition of the country’s consistent efforts to develop its national statistical system and implement advanced international standards. Kazakhstan actively promotes the digitalization of statistics, enhances methodologies for data collection and analysis, and improves data transparency and accessibility.
The country places particular emphasis on strengthening institutional capacity, expanding cooperation with international and regional partners, and introducing innovative approaches in statistical activities.
Within the framework of the Commission, Kazakhstan intends to contribute to the further development of the global statistical system, promote reliable and comparable data, and strengthen international cooperation in support of sustainable development.
