Kazakhstan and India Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Civil Aviation
09.04.2026 14:13:56 274New Delhi, 9 April 2026 - H.E. Azamat Yeskarayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of India held a meeting with H.E. Puneet Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
Kazakh diplomat highlighted the strong potential for enhancing cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of India in the field of civil aviation. It was emphasized that the steady growth in passenger traffic and increasing demand for direct flights indicate the need to further expand bilateral engagement in this area.
The parties noted that the existing legal framework, including the Air Services Agreement and relevant bilateral arrangements, provides a solid foundation for air connectivity.
It was underlined that India is becoming an increasingly popular destination for both tourism and business travel among Kazakh citizens, while Kazakhstan is gaining attractiveness among Indian tourists. In 2025, the number of Indian visitors to Kazakhstan reached approximately 150,000, facilitated by the introduction of a 14-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens. The Kazakh side also welcomed India’s decision to grant gratis visas up to 30 days to citizens of Kazakhstan.
The parties expressed their interest in continuing bilateral consultations on air services between the two countries.
Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening partnership, and creating favorable conditions for the development of tourism and business exchanges.
