Astana, April 21, 2026 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held a meeting with Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the current activities of the SCO, as well as the progress of preparations for the high-level and top-level events planned for 2026, including the Summit of Heads of State in Bishkek.

Particular attention was paid to further improving the activities of the SCO, as well as unlocking the Organization’s potential.

The head of Kazakh Foreign Ministry, expressing support for the SCO’s activities, emphasized that the Organization is approaching its 25th anniversary as an established and authoritative multi-profile association, acting as an effective factor in ensuring security and stability in the Eurasian region.

In turn, the Secretary-General, highlighting Kazakhstan’s active role in the Organization’s activities, informed about the priority areas of work for the upcoming period.
