In 2025, the Agency completed another cycle of risk-based supervision in the banking sector, within the framework of which a comprehensive assessment using the SREP (Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process) methodology was conducted.

The annual SREP assessment became an important milestone in the development of risk-based banking supervision and provided a deeper understanding of the condition of Kazakhstan’s banking sector. As part of the SREP process, a detailed analysis of banks’ operations was conducted, including the level of development of corporate governance, internal control, and risk management systems.

Following the supervisory cycle, the Agency applied a supervisory capital add-on ranging from 0% to 4.5%. The decision to apply the add-on was adopted in December 2025 by the Committee on Prudential Regulation Policy with the participation of the Agency and the National Bank representatives. All banks maintained sufficient capital buffers and complied with minimum regulatory requirements, taking into account the supervisory add-on.

This report on the SREP assessment results helps provide a better understanding of current trends and risks in the banking system. The experience gained formed the basis for key findings and recommendations aimed at improving business processes and enhancing the resilience of the sector.
