Kazakhstan and Turkey Strengthen Cooperation in Customs Statistics

Between May 12 and 15, 2026, the city of Astana hosted the second meeting of experts from the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, dedicated to comparing foreign trade customs statistics and aligning methodological approaches based on the results of 2025.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the dynamics of discrepancies in statistical data of mutual trade in recent years and reviewed key methodological aspects of forming foreign trade customs statistics.
Special attention was paid to the comparison of data in the directions of "export of the Republic of Kazakhstan — import of the Republic of Turkey" and "import of the Republic of Kazakhstan — export of the Republic of Turkey."
The experts conducted a detailed analysis of the reasons for existing discrepancies in the 2025 statistical data and exchanged practical experience and best approaches in the field of forming, processing, and analyzing customs statistical information.
In a separate session, the participants considered prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation, including expanding the list of exchanged information, improving mechanisms for information interaction, and deepening analytical work on comparing mutual trade data.
Following the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the second meeting of experts on comparing foreign trade customs statistics for 2025, which consolidated the reached agreements and determined further directions for interaction.
Holding this event was another important step in strengthening the partnership between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Turkey, and it will also contribute to increasing the transparency, quality, and comparability of foreign trade customs statistics between the two countries.
