16 May 2026 – A handover ceremony for the Kazakhstani humanitarian aid to the Iranian Red Crescent Society took place in Iran.

In accordance with a decision by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 30 rail wagons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the Islamic Republic of Iran: tinned meat, sugar, flour, medical supplies and medicines. The humanitarian aid sent by Kazakhstan is intended to support the people of Iran and help meet socially significant needs.

The event was attended by Ontalap Onalbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Iran; representatives of the Iranian Red Crescent Society; and Golamabbas Arbab Kales, Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Razavi Khorasan Province (Mashhad) Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales.

During the ceremony, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan noted that the country’s foreign policy attaches particular importance to the development of relations with Iran based on good-neighbourliness, friendship and mutual respect.

The Kazakh diplomat emphasised that Iran is one of Kazakhstan’s key political, trade, economic and humanitarian partners in the Middle East and the Islamic world.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed,” remarked the Ambassador, pointing out that Kazakhstan has consistently supported the Iranian people throughout various periods.

Furthermore, the Kazakh diplomat expressed confidence in the continued and consistent strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, based on traditional friendship and mutual trust.

For his part, the representative of the Iranian Red Crescent Society expressed his gratitude to the Kazakh side for the humanitarian aid provided, emphasising that this step would contribute to the further strengthening of relations of friendship and mutual support between the two countries.
