In connection with the dissemination of inaccurate information in the media space regarding the alleged mass blocking of bank accounts of foreign economic activity participants importing hybrid vehicles from China, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan states the following.
Notifications regarding identified violations have been sent to the taxpayer accounts of foreign economic activity participants who provided inaccurate information during the customs declaration of BYD hybrid vehicles.
At the same time, the notifications concern only 623 vehicles processed by 450 foreign economic activity participants, which does not correspond to the reports claiming that these measures are of a mass nature.
Measures restricting outgoing transactions on bank accounts within the framework of current legislation have been applied only to 45 legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.
The basis for the control measures was the increasing number of cases involving inaccurate declarations of the 30-minute power output of electric motors in hybrid vehicles, which resulted in the unlawful exemption from customs duty payments.
To ensure objective control, territorial divisions of the state revenue authorities were provided with information on the factory technical specifications of the vehicles submitted by the official representative of the BYD brand for further verification of the accuracy of the declared data.
The State Revenue Committee urges citizens and participants in foreign economic activity to rely exclusively on official sources of information and to refrain from spreading unverified information.
