On 25 May 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Holy See, Timur Primbetov, met with Monsignor Karel Kasteel, Honorary Curial Prelate of the Holy See and a well-known and highly respected figure of the Catholic Church.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Monsignor K.Kasteel served in the Dicastery for Evangelization and the Pontifical Council “Cor Unum”, coordinated numerous international humanitarian assistance projects of the Holy See, and represented the Holy See in diplomatic contacts.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan briefed Monsignor K.Kasteel on Kazakhstan’s efforts to promote interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue. Particular attention was paid to the significance of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions as a unique international platform for strengthening mutual understanding, tolerance, and cooperation among representatives of different faiths and cultures.

The Kazakh diplomat also informed about the political and socio-economic transformations being carried out in Kazakhstan under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noting that these reforms are aimed at strengthening state institutions, the rule of law, public harmony, and the country’s sustainable development.

Monsignor K. Kasteel highly commended Kazakhstan’s contribution to the advancement of dialogue among religions and cultures, and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to strengthen peace, mutual respect, and multilateral cooperation.

The interlocutors exchanged views on topical issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Holy See, including prospects for the further development of contacts in the spiritual and humanitarian spheres.

The meeting took place in a friendly and trustful atmosphere.
