Brasília, May 26, 2026 – A joint meeting was held at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Bolat Nussupov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Rashad Navruz, and the Director of the Department of Comercial Promotion and Investments at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Alex Giacomelli.

The main focus of the talks was the presentation of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TMTM, Middle Corridor), as well as cooperation on the joint use of this trade route to increase the flow of goods from Brazil to the Central Asian and South Caucasus regions, and back to South America. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, in turn, briefed his counterpart on the results of the official visit by Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to Astana on May 11 of this year. In particular, he discussed the agreements reached to increase mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Brazil to $1 billion and to actively utilize the potential of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor in this process.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached to organize an expanded presentation of the TMTM at ApexBrasil, the Brazilian agency for export development and investment promotion.

For reference: ApexBrasil is Brazil’s official government agency established to promote Brazilian goods and services in international markets and to support foreign investment. On May 11, 2026, during the official visit of Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to Astana, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between JSC “National Company ‘KAZAKH INVEST’” and the Brazilian agency “APEX BRASIL.”
