In the Abai region, the convicts wrote letters to their loved ones, expressing gratitude and hope for the restoration of family ties.
On the fourth day of the festive decade of Nauryznam, dedicated to family values, generational continuity and respect for elders, a special event filled with sincere feelings and deep emotions was held at the institution of secondary security of the UIS in the Abai region.
The convicts were asked to write letters of gratitude to their loved ones — those who continue to wait, support and believe. About thirty people responded to this initiative.: their lines contained warm words, congratulations on the holiday and sincere appreciation for the love that did not fade, despite the distance and trials.
While writing the letters, one of the convicts could not hold back his tears. Emotions overwhelmed him, and in a conversation with the psychologists of the institution, he opened his soul.
- A 68-year-old man serving a sentence for fraud and sentenced to eight years in prison wrote a letter to his daughter with special pain and tenderness. In it, he congratulated her on starting a family and apologized for not being there on one of the most important days of her life.
I have four children, each of them already has their own families. Recently, the youngest daughter got married.… I am very sorry that I did not hold her hand on the wedding day, I did not tell her the main words of my father. I'll be free in two years, and maybe I'll have more grandchildren. I didn't become an exemplary father to my children.… but I really hope to become a beloved grandfather for my grandchildren," the convict shared.
This story touched everyone who was around. It contains regret for the past, the pain of lost moments, and at the same time a quiet hope for the future.
- Every parent dreams of being with their children, supporting them, sharing important moments in life, and seeing happiness in their eyes. Especially on days like my daughter's wedding. Such events give convicts the opportunity to stop, reflect, rethink their actions and, most importantly, not to lose touch with those who are waiting for them and love them," said the psychologist of the institution Kuralai Iksanova.
On this day, letters became more than just words on paper — they became a bridge between hearts that, despite everything, continue to reach out to each other.
