U.S. Delegation Participates in 2026 Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress

Astana, June 11, 2026 – As part of a visit to Kazakhstan, representatives of the U.S. Government and American businesses participated in the 16th International Mining and Metallurgical Congress and Exhibition, Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress (AMM 2026).

The Congress was opened by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, who underscored the importance of attracting investment, fostering technological partnerships, and expanding value-added processing in the mining and metallurgical sector.

The U.S. delegation at the exhibition was led by David Fogel, Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service. More than 20 U.S. companies operating in the mining industry and related sectors also took part in AMM 2026.

On the margins of the exhibition, a Kazakhstan-U.S. country roundtable on critical minerals cooperation was held, bringing together government officials, investors, and business representatives from both countries. Discussions focused on advancing specific investment projects and new agreements aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation, expanding processing capacity, and developing resilient supply chains.

Participants highlighted Kazakhstan’s pivotal role in the region and noted the country’s consistent contribution to strengthening the practical dimension of the C5+1 platform.

In addition, Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yersayin Nagaspayev met with David Fogel on the sidelines of AMM 2026. The two sides discussed opportunities to further expand industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in the mining and metallurgical sector, machinery manufacturing, and other promising industries.
