Satellite communication services using the low-orbit satellite system Eutelsat-OneWeb were tested on the territory of the Kokterek Space Communications Center in Almaty. This project is aimed at providing stable and high-speed Internet access for remote regions of the country where traditional connection methods are limited or absent.
Taking into account the geographical features of Kazakhstan, the introduction of satellite communication services through the Eutelsat-OneWeb grouping is of strategic importance. Unlike other satellite systems, Eutelsat-OneWeb is focused on providing services to private companies, telecommunications operators and government agencies, which makes it an important partner for the B2B, B2G and B2O markets.
Eutelsat-OneWeb is actively used in aviation, maritime transportation and corporate sectors, which indicates its versatility and reliability. A key element of the infrastructure in Kazakhstan has become the OneWeb interface station, located at the Kokterek Central Station, which provides coverage not only of Kazakhstan, but also of the entire Central Asian region.
Minister of Digital Development Jaslan Madiyev checked the Internet speed during the event, noting the importance of a stable Internet connection for the country. He stressed that connecting to high-speed Internet will not only improve the quality of life, but also contribute to the socio-economic development of remote areas by providing access to educational and information resources.
Jusan Mobile JSC has become a local partner of Eutelsat- OneWeb in Kazakhstan by signing memorandums of cooperation with government organizations such as the Ministry of Defense and NC KTZ JSC. Among the potential customers of satellite Internet, large companies and government agencies are considered, including Tengizchevroil, Kcell, Tele2, JSC Qazaqgaz, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and others.
The Eurelsat-OneWeb Satellite System Network Management Center, located in Kazakhstan, operates in accordance with the legislation and is coordinated with the national security authorities of the country. The full launch of satellite Internet is planned for January 2025.
