Kazakhstan and South Korea Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue

Seoul, June 22, 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea, Asset Issenali, held a meeting with Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-kang.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of Kazakhstan-Korea inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as prospects for further expanding collaboration in the political, trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres.

Particular attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Korea and his participation in the Central Asia - Republic of Korea Summit. The interlocutors expressed confidence that the forthcoming high-level engagements would provide strong momentum for the development of bilateral strategic partnership and the implementation of joint projects.

The parties also highlighted the important role of the upcoming multilateral event in strengthening interregional cooperation and advancing a common agenda in the fields of economy, investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat briefed the Korean parliamentarian on the large-scale reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan aimed at further modernizing the political system, improving public administration, strengthening the rule of law, and creating favorable conditions for sustainable economic growth and investment attraction. He also introduced the key provisions of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The interlocutors particularly emphasized the unique role of the Korean diaspora in Kazakhstan, which for many decades has served as a strong bridge of friendship, trust, and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, expanding humanitarian contacts, and promoting new joint initiatives for the benefit of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.
