Business Owners Need to Update Their OKED

Starting from July 1, 2026, Amendment No. 4 to the National Classifier of Economic Activities (OKED) (NC RK 03-2019) has officially come into effect in Kazakhstan. The amendments affected retail trade, courier delivery, tourism, gasification, and robotics.

The Bureau of National Statistics will automatically recode current OKED codes. However, only you know the exact parameters of your business, such as the sales area of your retail facility or the specifics of the services provided. In this regard, business owners need to update their OKED to ensure that data is correctly reflected in information systems.

Key Changes in the Classifier

Retail Trade in Food Products

The codes have been strictly detailed according to the area of the retail facility:

  • Less than 100 sq. m — 47117;
  • From 100 to 500 sq. m — 47116;
  • From 500 to 2,000 sq. m — 47115;
  • From 2,000 to 10,000 sq. m — 47114;
  • More than 10,000 sq. m — 47113.

Courier Delivery

The codes for courier activities (53201) and other postal activities (53209) have been separated.

Tourism

Subclasses have been introduced for guides, tour guides, and instructors (79901), as well as for other booking services (79909).

Sale of Gas and Fuel

The classification has been divided by pipelines. Retail sale of liquefied gas in cylinders depends on the area: less than 2,000 sq. m — 47787; from 2,000 sq. m — 47786.

Robotics

Code 28997 has been introduced for the manufacture of industrial robots.

Action Algorithm for Taxpayers

  1. Log in to the e-Government Portal at egov.kz.
  2. Check the code assigned to your enterprise after the technical update.
  3. If there are discrepancies with the actual indicators, submit an application to update the OKED through the portal.

The State Revenue Department for Almaty recommends carrying out this procedure promptly, as data updating is necessary for proper tax administration, correct operation in risk management systems, and prevention of tax response measures.
