The headquarters of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) hosted the first-ever meeting of the Kazakhstan–Morocco Business Council in the history of bilateral relations.

The event brought together Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov, President of CGEM Mehdi Tazi, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Morocco Saulekul Sailaukyzy, Co-Chairs of the Business Council – Chairman of the CGEM Economy Committee Driss Benomar and Chairman of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan Murat Karimsakov, as well as representatives of government agencies, development institutions of both countries, and a high-level business delegation comprising companies from various sectors of the economies of Kazakhstan and Morocco.

Within the framework of the Business Council Deputy Minister Kuantyrov held a separate meeting with President Tazi, during which the parties discussed the role of business associations in strengthening direct ties between the business communities of the two countries and promoting joint projects.

Opening the session, Kuantyrov highlighted the symbolic significance of the event, recalling the progress achieved over the past five years since the opening of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Morocco – from the establishment of initial contacts to the first visit of Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs to Morocco last year, followed by the visit of the Speaker of the Mazhilis, and now a substantial business delegation accompanying the current visit. He expressed confidence that the newly established Business Council would become an effective platform for direct dialogue between Kazakh and Moroccan companies, facilitating investment, industrial cooperation, and trade.

The participants discussed promising areas of cooperation in agriculture, industry, logistics, fintech, and investment, agreeing to continue work in these areas through specialized working groups. A number of Kazakh and Moroccan companies delivered presentations on their activities, as well as the investment and export potential of both countries, and explored opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation while exchanging contacts for further negotiations.

A showcase exhibition of Kazakh products was also organized on the sidelines of the meeting, enabling Moroccan companies to familiarize themselves with the range of products offered by Kazakh manufacturers and assess opportunities for expanding trade relations.

In his remarks, President Tazi described Morocco as a country strategically positioned at the crossroads of Africa, Europe, and the Arab world, emphasizing its role as a gateway to African and European markets, while Kazakhstan provides access to the markets of Central Asia. He identified fertilizers, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, energy, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence as the sectors with the greatest potential for cooperation, stressing that the establishment of the Business Council is fully aligned with CGEM’s strategy of expanding partnerships with Central Asian markets.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to using the Business Council as a regular platform for strengthening direct contacts between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Morocco.
