Senegal Supports Kazakhstan's Initiative to Establish the International Water Organization

Algiers, 25 July 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Algeria Anuarbek Akhmetov held a meeting with Cheikh Niang, Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad of the Republic of Senegal.
During the meeting, the parties noted the convergence of the positions of their countries on key international issues and expressed their readiness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The Senegalese Foreign Minister stated that Senegal supports the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to establish the International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations, emphasizing the timeliness of creating a single universal platform for coordinating international cooperation in the field of water resources.
Minister Niang also announced Senegal's intention to send a business mission to Kazakhstan to promote promising trade and economic cooperation projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding Kazakhstan-Senegal cooperation and agreed to intensify interaction between their foreign ministries in order to identify promising areas of bilateral partnership, as well as to strengthen the institutional and legal framework of bilateral relations.
