On 28 July 2026, Ambassador-at-Large – Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty Zhanibek Abdrashov participated and delivered welcoming remarks at the opening of the Global Strategic Dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security under the theme “Youth as Catalysts of Change: From Normative Progress to Implementation Impact.”

The event was organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in partnership with the United Nations Youth Office and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support of the Government of Italy.

In his remarks, Ambassador reviewed the achievements of the first decade of implementing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda, established under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250. He underscored the importance of further institutionalizing the agenda and outlined its key priorities for future advancement. Particular emphasis was placed on Kazakhstan's experience in advancing state youth policy, its cooperation with the entities of the United Nations system, as well as the significance of the United Nations Regional Centre for the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan, currently being established in Almaty, as a new platform for regional cooperation.

Opening remarks were also delivered by UNFPA Executive Director Diene Keita. The event was attended by United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Sarangoo Radnaaragchaa, UNFPA Representative in Kazakhstan Chinwe Ogbonna and UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan Katarzyna Wawiernia.

The Global Strategic Dialogue brought together representatives of United Nations entities, the expert community, government institutions, and young leaders from different regions of the world to discuss practical mechanisms for implementing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda.
