In 2025, Aktau hosted an off-site meeting of the Senate Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Current Issues in the Development of Historical Tourism."

The meeting focused on measures to strengthen Mangystau Region's tourism potential, develop historical and beach tourism, and improve tourism infrastructure. Participants highlighted that the 2025–2029 Comprehensive Development Plan for the Mangystau Tourism Region, approved on the instruction of the President, includes 102 initiatives across nine priority areas. These priorities include sustainable tourism development, investment projects, infrastructure modernization, digitalization, safety improvements, and the development of the Kenderli resort area.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the government and the private sector to advance historical tourism and unlock the region's full tourism potential.
