Today, international criminal groups are actively using digital technologies, social networks and internet platforms to recruit people under the guise of job opportunities. Under the pretext of highly paid vacancies, people are misled, deprived of their freedom and forced to participate in illegal activities.

This form of exploitation is becoming one of the fastest-spreading threats of transnational organized crime. People of different ages, professions and levels of education become victims of human trafficking.

Modern human trafficking is not only about sexual exploitation or forced labor. Increasingly, people are forced to participate in fraud, cybercrime, illegal migration, drug trafficking, theft and other crimes.

That is why prevention remains one of the most effective tools in combating this type of crime.

In support of international efforts to combat human trafficking, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan is conducting the republican information campaign “Human Trafficking Is a Serious Crime!” from July 24 to 30, 2026.

The main goal of the campaign is to draw public attention to this dangerous form of organized crime, increase the level of legal awareness among the population, provide information about modern methods of recruiting people and measures of state protection for victims.

State and local executive bodies, police units, international and non-governmental organizations will participate in the campaign. Throughout the week, meetings with the public, legal consultations, distribution of preventive materials and other activities aimed at preventing human trafficking will be held across the country.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan urges citizens to carefully verify employment information, especially when it concerns work abroad, not to hand over documents to strangers, not to accept dubious offers and to обязательно report cases of possible human trafficking to law enforcement agencies.

Everyone can contribute to preventing this crime by remaining vigilant, sharing reliable information and supporting those who find themselves in difficult life situations.

Human trafficking remains a serious challenge of our time, however, through joint efforts of the state, society and every citizen, it is possible to protect human dignity, freedom and everyone’s right to a safe life.

It should be noted that every year on July 30, the World Day against Trafficking in Persons is observed at the initiative of the United Nations.

This year, it is held under the theme “In the Trap of Fraud”, which aims to draw attention to a new form of exploitation — forcing victims of human trafficking to commit crimes, primarily in the field of online fraud.

Human trafficking is a serious crime. Do not remain indifferent.
