This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of our fellow countrywoman, prominent representative of Kazakh poetry, poet and People’s Writer of Kazakhstan Mariam Khakimzhanova.
A new mural has appeared on the street named after Mariam Khakimzhanova. It is not simply an urban beautification project, but a tribute to the outstanding poet who made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh poetry.
Mariam Khakimzhanova was born in the Kostanay region and devoted her entire life to literature. Her works explore themes of love for the Motherland, motherhood, heroism and human destiny. In 1976, she was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Kostanay.
The mural, unveiled as part of the City Day celebrations, is a visual tribute to the remarkable local poet and a way of preserving her creative legacy for future generations.
The name of Mariam Khakimzhanova is now remembered not only through books and archival materials, but also in the modern cityscape of Kostanay. May this mural remind residents and visitors of her significant contribution to Kazakh culture and literature.
