Today, on October 18, 2024, Kazakhstan hosted the opening of Decentrathon 2.0, the largest multi—location hackathon with a prize fund of $50,000 from leading industry players, organized by the Blockchain & AI Technology Center (BAITC) together with Astana Hub with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Over two days, more than 2,500 participants from 17 regions across Kazakhstan will present their innovative developments in such key technological areas as artificial intelligence, blockchain, game development and Telegram mini-apps. The event strengthens Kazakhstan's position as a regional leader in advanced technologies and contributes to the creation of an ecosystem in the field of AI. This event is part of the Generative Nation movement, implemented within the framework of the concept of artificial intelligence development in Kazakhstan. Within the framework of this movement, the AI Movement is being implemented – initiatives aimed at promoting artificial intelligence technologies.
Last year, Decentrathon brought together more than 1,500 developers from 12 regions of Kazakhstan, which was a significant success that demonstrated the huge potential of Kazakhstani developers. This year, the hackathon expands its borders and covers all 17 regions, making it the first such event of this scale in the world.
At the opening ceremony, the head of the Ministry of Finance, Jaslan Madiyev, spoke about the ongoing initiatives in the framework of the development of artificial intelligence.
"The Generative Nation movement aims to ensure that AI transformation covers the whole country. It is important that every region of Kazakhstan participates in this process. Decentrathon is the first IT event that unites all regions of the country, and this is an important step towards strengthening Kazakhstan's leadership in the field of artificial intelligence and digital technologies," said Jaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On the sidelines of the event, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in partnership with Blockchain and AI Technology Center, announced the launch of a free four-week AI-driven career bootcamp. It is intended for engineers participating in Decentrathon and IT graduates of universities in Kazakhstan.
The bootcamp includes hands-on workshops and meetings with representatives of leading technology companies, where participants will learn how AI is changing career opportunities, what skills to develop and how to build a career in a new reality.
Events such as the bootcamp and the AI-driven Career initiative will help Kazakhstan significantly strengthen human capital in the technology industry.
