Warsaw, 23 September 2026 – As part of the events marking the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 90th Anniversary of the Deportation of Poles to Kazakhstan, a round table dedicated to the historical ties between Kazakhstan and Poland, the preservation of shared historical memory, and the prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation was held at the Parliament of the Republic of Poland.

The event was the result of joint efforts by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Warsaw and Mr. Kazimierz Klejna, Chairman of the Poland–Central Asia Parliamentary Group of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, aimed at strengthening the Kazakhstan–Poland dialogue and preserving their shared historical heritage.

The discussion brought together representatives of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, academic and expert communities, public organizations, as well as members of the Polish diaspora who had lived in Kazakhstan.

Opening the meeting, Mr. Klejna highlighted the special place of Kazakhstan in the historical memory of the Polish people and emphasized the significance of the support extended by the Kazakh people to Poles who found themselves in Kazakhstan as a result of deportations during the Soviet period.

During the round table, the Kazakh side underscored the steady development of Kazakhstan–Poland relations, the intensification of political dialogue and interparliamentary contacts, the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, and the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties. Particular attention was given to the key directions of Kazakhstan’s political modernization in recent years, including constitutional reforms and the establishment of new socio-political institutions.

The participants also discussed initiatives aimed at further advancing humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Poland, including the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges, the commemoration of Abai Kunanbayev in Warsaw, and the establishment of a Polish Institute in Kazakhstan.

The participants of the round table reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the Kazakhstan–Poland partnership, enhancing interparliamentary cooperation, and implementing joint projects in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
