Madrid, September 24, 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Spain Danat Mussayev, in his capacity as Dean of the Asia-Pacific Ambassadors’ Group (ASPAC), together with the heads of diplomatic missions of ASPAC countries, held a meeting with Spain’s Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on prospects for expanding Spain’s trade, economic and investment cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries in the context of the practical implementation of Spain’s Asia-Pacific Strategy for 2026–2029.

Ambassador Mussayev welcomed Spain’s growing focus on Asia and highlighted the shared interest in giving economic cooperation a more practical dimension. Promising areas identified included the diversification of trade flows and supply chains, enhanced transport connectivity, the promotion of mutual investment, and greater participation of Spanish businesses in projects across the region.

In the context of Central Asia, the Kazakh diplomat emphasized the region’s strategic importance in strengthening connectivity between Europe and Asia. It was noted that Kazakhstan, due to its geographical location, developed transport and logistics infrastructure, and investment potential, plays an important role in expanding Spain’s economic ties with the region.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing trade and economic ties and maintaining regular contacts between Spain and Asian countries.
