The President of the International Judo Federation got acquainted with the sports infrastructure of the capital

As part of an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), Marius Wieser, visited the key sports facilities of the capital and got acquainted with their activities.
The first point of the visit was the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace, opened in 2019. This unique sports facility is equipped with modern infrastructure necessary for international competitions in such sports as Greco-Roman, freestyle and women's wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo and mixed martial arts. During the visit, the head of the IJF also got acquainted with the progress of the construction of the National Sports University, the completion of which is scheduled for the end of 2025.
During the familiarization voyage, a meeting was held with promising wrestlers and leading Kazakhstani athletes, among whom were bronze medalist and Olympic Games in Paris Gusman Kyrgyzbayev, Paralympic Games champion in Paris Akmaral Nahuatbek, World and Asian Championships medalist Abiba Abuzhakynova, as well as 2009 world champion Maxim Rakov. The participants raised topical issues of judo development in Kazakhstan and its promotion in the international arena.
"The visit to Astana and the meetings held left the most positive impressions. Today I visited key sports facilities, the infrastructure of which meets international standards, and I note that any of these projects is ready for competition at the highest level. In addition, I was familiarized with the project of the National Sports University, which will become an important link in the training of professional personnel for the development of sports in Kazakhstan," Marius Wieser stressed.
