In January- February 2026, according to operational data, retail trade turnover increased by 1.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 83.8 billion tenge.

In the republican volume of retail turnover, the Abay region occupies the 13 thplace, the share of retail turnover in the republican volume was 2.6%.

The main volume of retail trade was provided by individuals trading in the markets and carrying out individual trading activities. Their trade turnover amounted to 58.7% of the retail turnover of the region and increased by 14.8% compared to January- February 2025.

The volume of trading enterprises increased by 9.0% compared to the corresponding period last year and amounted to 41.3% of the retail turnover of the region.

In the total volume of retail trade, 65.9% are non-food products, 34.1% are food products.

The largest volume of sales falls on the city of Semey –63.9 billion tenge, or 76.3% of the turnover of the region. Ayagoz district accounts for 5.5%, Zharma district – 4.1%, Borodulikha district-3.0%,Urzhar district – 3.2%. The share of other regions ranges from 1.6% (Kurchatov) to 0.7% (Abay district) , 1% (Kokpekti district) ,1.9% (Beskaragai district) , 1.4% (Makanchy district) ,1.3% (Aksuat district).

The volume of wholesale trade in January- February 2026 amounted to 51.5 billion tenge, or 110.2 % compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the structure of wholesale trade, non-food products and industrial and technical products account for 48.6%, food products –51.4%.
