In January-June 2026, according to operational data, retail trade turnover increased by 4.9% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 307.1 billion tenge.

In the republican volume of retail turnover, the Abay region occupies the 12^th place, the share of retail turnover in the republican volume was 2.7%.

The main volume of retail trade was provided by individuals trading in the markets and carrying out individual trading activities. Their trade turnover amounted to 59.9% of the retail turnover of the region and increased by 13.3% compared to January-June 2025.

The volume of trading enterprises increased by 13.4% compared to the corresponding period last year and amounted to 40.1% of the retail turnover of the region.

In the total volume of retail trade, 64.8% are non-food products, 35.2% are food products.

The largest volume of sales falls on the city of Semey –235.5 billion tenge, or 76.7% of the turnover of the region. Ayagoz district accounts for 5.3%, Zharma district – 4.3%, Borodulikha district-2.3%,Urzhar district – 3.0%. The share of other regions ranges from 1.7% (Kurchatov) to 1% (Abay district) , 1% (Kokpekti district) ,1.8% (Beskaragai district) , 1.4% (Makanchy district) ,1.5% (Aksuat district).

The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 188.7 billion tenge, or 104.4 % compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the structure of wholesale trade, non-food products and industrial and technical products account for 60.7%, food products –39.3%.
