At a government meeting, Transport Minister Marat Karabayev reported on a significant increase in revenue from toll roads. In 2024, the volume of revenue reached 48 billion tenge. This year, it is planned to introduce an additional 4 thousand kilometers of toll sections, which will increase revenue to 60 billion tenge. In the coming year, this figure may increase to 100 billion tenge.

“In addition, the issue of using part of the funds received from toll roads to cover interest rates on loans taken for construction work is being considered,” the minister said.
In order to reduce the budget burden and ensure self-sufficiency, “repair work is gradually continuing” in areas where reconstruction and repair work have been completed. Currently, a toll road system with a length of 3.2 thousand kilometers is operating across the republic.

In addition, the minister noted the development of roadside service facilities. There are 1,446 service facilities operating in the country, 90 percent of which comply with national standards. It is planned to increase this figure to 100 percent by 2025, as well as attract large investors to the construction of more than 400 modern service facilities.

"By 2029, the construction of 60 complex facilities is planned, 10 of which will be implemented this year. The investment volume will amount to 120 billion tenge. These facilities include recreation areas, TIR parking and gas stations. The first national chain of hotels and their franchises will be formed on the basis of the development of roadside service facilities in the country. This will not only affect the development of the transport process, but also contribute to the development of auto tourism," Marat Karabayev noted.
