The issues of modern threats to adolescent health were discussed by the participants of the round table in Astana. The event was attended by public figures, parents and school psychologists, the official website of the Mayor's Office of the capital reports.
Ulzhan Kabyldina, a police lieutenant colonel, senior operative of the Department of the Committee on Combating Drug Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, told the participants of the round table how to avoid the involvement of teenagers in drug crime.
"Every year, more than 10 thousand preventive measures are held in the capital — actions, seminars and lectures. But the main focus in this work is on high school and college students. 1.5 thousand measures to combat drug crime are carried out with the participation of 15 thousand active citizens. The goal is to inform children about the harmful effects of drug use and to form their rejection of illegal behavior. After all, it is young people who, due to their inexperience, become the main target of drug traffickers. Along with this, other activities are continuing. For example, with the help of service dogs, inspections of dormitories and logistics companies for the delivery of parcels are carried out. Also, the identification of drug advertising, graffiti painting and other activities are continuing with volunteers and representatives of non—governmental organizations," Ulzhan Kabyldina said.
According to her, the number of minors detained for drug offenses is growing every year.
"This year alone, over 39 minors have already been detained. Of these, 13 are schoolchildren, 22 are college students, 1 is a university student and three are not studying. It is worth noting that cases have been identified when 9th grade students were detained for laying drugs. Therefore, we conduct explanatory work with schoolchildren and students, where we talk about the consequences of participating in drug crimes. Individual events are held mainly with parents. Parents should work with their children, know what they are doing, and control them. Young people unknowingly join the ranks of pawnbrokers and droppers. It should be clarified that for this they can be prosecuted with imprisonment for a term of more than 10 years," she notes.
The representative of law enforcement agencies advised parents, psychologists and employees of interested bodies to devote more time to children.
