A BRANCH OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LORRAINE HAS OPENED AT ABAI UNIVERSITY
A branch of the University of Lorraine (France) has been officially opened at the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai. This significant event was part of the implementation of the tasks set by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to create branches of leading foreign universities in our country.
The University of Lorraine is one of the most prestigious universities in France, uniting 49 academic buildings located in 13 cities. This is a state research university (Université de Lorraine), which has been cooperating with Abai University for a long time.
The opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulzat Kobenova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan Sylvan Giogue. They unveiled a commemorative plaque. Then the guests witnessed the opening of the first library in Central Asia with a collection in French. The honored guests stressed that the opening of the branch of the University of Lorraine will be a new stage in the development of science and education in Kazakhstan.
On this significant day, first-year students were awarded educational grants by the rector, and graduates of the two-degree program "International Law" were solemnly awarded diplomas from the University of Lorraine.
At the end of the official part of the Abai KazNPU, he signed several cooperation agreements with the Human Rights Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Law, Economics and Management of the University of Lorraine, as well as the Kazakh-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties agreed to actively develop cooperation in the field of education, science and human rights, implement the French-Kazakh double-degree program in the field of law, as well as work together in the areas of vocational training, employment and popularization of the French language.
