Family and gender policy of Kazakhstan: key points of 2024

The Ministry of Culture and Information continues to summarize the results of 2024. Today we present to you the results of activities in the field of family and gender policy.
One of the most important events of the past year was the adoption of the Law on Domestic Violence. The new edition tightened the punishment for violence against women and children, including criminalizing offenses in the family and household sphere.
The Ministry is conducting preventive work together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health and other government agencies. Mobile groups have been set up in the regions to identify families in difficult situations early.
Also, within the framework of the new Law, the Ministry of Culture and Information coordinates and provides methodological guidance for the activities of Family Support Centers. To date, 43 GCHS are functioning in the country and a mobile application is being tested for early detection of families in difficult life situations.
The Ministry continues to work to strengthen moral and family values among Kazakhstanis. An Action Plan has been developed and adopted to preserve and strengthen the institution of family and marriage for 2025-2027, aimed at preventing divorce and increasing the level of conscious preparation for family life.
The National competition "Mereyli otbasy" is held annually. Over 11 years, more than 20 thousand families from all regions of Kazakhstan took part in it.
A week of Family Day celebrations took place from September 2 to 8 this year. Over 2 thousand events were held with a total coverage of over 300 thousand people.
In his Message of 2024, the Head of State stressed the importance of informed parenthood, calling for close attention to the upbringing of children. In this regard, the Ministry and the NGO "Union of Fathers" held the IX Republican Forum of Fathers "Tarbieh - tal besikten", which brought together more than 200 participants - experts, exemplary fathers, active citizens, teachers and heads of educational institutions.
Continuing this important topic, the Ministry held an International conference "Education of children and youth: the State, society and the family in unity of action", which resulted in the adoption of a resolution.
In the field of gender policy implementation, the policy of strengthening gender equality and eliminating discrimination against women continues.
In order to increase the leadership potential and political activity of women and girls, training continues under the information and educational program "Tomiris". This year, about 500 women have been covered.
A lot of work is being done to fulfill obligations under the international gender agenda. Thus, this year the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Resolutions 1325 was updated, which was highly appreciated by experts and the diplomatic corps. The Plan includes 34 events.
Also, positions of freelance advisers to the akim on gender equality issues from among civil society, experts and the business community have been established in 19 regions of the country.
In addition, this year the "Action Plan of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure the promotion of equal rights and opportunities for men and women" was adopted.
