A solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the Tauelsizdik Urpaktary grant competition, established on behalf of the Head of State, and the laureates of the Daryn State Youth Award took place in Astana today.
Among the current winners of the Daryn Award are laureates of competitions and festivals, prize–winners and winners of sports competitions, public figures and activists.
The professional jury selected the winners in the following categories: "Literature", "Science", "Design and Fine Arts", "Journalism", "Classical Music", "Creative Initiatives", "Sports", "Theater and Cinema", "Variety" and "Folk Art".
Congratulating the winners, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva noted that a progressive and talented generation is growing in the country, which is united by common principles and aspirations.
"You are the hope and support of the people. The President of the country, addressing you, identifies three main guidelines for the younger generation – the pursuit of knowledge, hard work and patriotism. These are the three pillars on which a strong and successful nation is based. That is, it is you who determine the future of the nation, and therefore the Head of State places such high hopes on you. For its part, the state fully supports and will support young people," the Minister noted.
The winners of the Tauelsizdik Urpaktary grants were 30 young Kazakhstanis whose projects were recognized as the best. These are initiatives in the fields of culture, science, media, information technology, and business. This year, a new direction was also added – "Volunteering".
"This grant was established on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan. Therefore, the awards you have received today are a great responsibility. I wish you to always be on top!", – said Aida Balayeva.
In her speech, the Minister also reminded the youth of the key values that are the main guidelines for our nation.
"At the National Kurultai this year, the President highlighted several important values: independence and patriotism, unity and solidarity, justice and responsibility, law and order, diligence and professionalism, creativity and innovation. Adherence to the values outlined by the Head of State has a positive effect on the development of youth and the change of public consciousness," the Minister noted.
It should be noted that each winner of the Tauelsizdik Urpaktary competition was allocated 3 million tenge in prize money. This year, 1,284 applications were received, of which 897 were accepted.
20 winners of the state youth award were awarded the title of "Laureate of the State Youth Award "Daryn", presented with commemorative statuettes and a monetary reward.
