12.12.2024 12:12:09 3023
The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan sums up the results of a year full of important events and significant achievements in the field of renewable energy sources (RES). The successful implementation of projects and the conclusion of strategic agreements strengthen Kazakhstan's position on the international energy agenda.
Development of renewable energy infrastructure
In 2024, three new renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 34.75 MW were put into operation. This was made possible by attracting investments in the amount of 13.7 billion tenge. By the end of the year, it is expected to complete the construction of five more facilities with a total capacity of 128.4 MW, which will further strengthen the country's energy potential.
Currently, there are 148 renewable energy facilities in Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 2903.7 MW. These facilities play a key role in reducing the carbon footprint and provide the country's energy system with clean and sustainable energy.
Contribution to the economy and employment
The total number of jobs in the renewable energy sector in 2024 reached 1,809. This highlights the importance of renewable energy not only for the ecological transition, but also for the socio-economic development of the country's regions.
Implementation of strategic projects
The key event of the year was the signing of an investment agreement with Masdar for the construction of a large 1 GW wind farm in Zhambyl region. The project includes modern energy storage systems, which will be an important step in improving the reliability and stability of Kazakhstan's energy system.
An equally important achievement was the signing of an intergovernmental agreement with the People's Republic of China on the construction of renewable energy facilities with a total installed capacity of 1.8 GW. This project strengthens international cooperation, attracts new investments and technologies to Kazakhstan.
Support for small-scale renewable energy facilities
In 2024, a law was adopted aimed at stimulating the development of small-scale renewable energy facilities among the population. The new mechanism will significantly simplify the installation of solar panels and other energy-efficient technologies at the household level, which will be an important contribution to the popularization of green energy in the country.
Sustainable energy transition
Kazakhstan continues to demonstrate leadership in Central Asia in terms of the pace of renewable energy development. In 2024, the country not only successfully increased its renewable energy capacity, but also strengthened its energy infrastructure, developing a sustainable economy and environmentally friendly energy.
The Ministry of Energy continues to work on creating favorable conditions for the implementation of new projects, attracting investments and introducing innovations. Sustainable development of renewable energy remains an important priority on the way to reducing carbon emissions and improving the quality of life of the population.
