A solemn event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Special Purpose Unit (PSN) "Burkit" of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in the concert hall of the Yerkegali Rakhmadiev State Philharmonic Society. This day became an important milestone in the history of the elite unit, which has been guarding the security and stability of the country for a quarter of a century.
On December 11, 1999, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Kairbek Suleimenov, signed an order on the formation of a special purpose detachment "Burkit" as part of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The new unit became the successor to the first training company of the special forces of the internal troops, having been developed and strengthened. Today, Burkit is a strong, highly professional and mobile unit with a deployment in the largest cities of Kazakhstan.
Serving in the special forces is not an easy task, but it is even more difficult to get into its ranks. The selection of candidates is carried out according to strict criteria, where special attention is paid to physical fitness, fighting qualities, the ability to navigate in extreme situations and the stability of the nervous system. All these requirements are necessary to complete the difficult tasks that are set for the fighters of "Burkit".
The unit performs a wide range of tasks, including participation in operations to detain particularly dangerous criminals together with internal affairs agencies, combating illegal armed groups, preventing sabotage at particularly important state and strategic facilities, suppressing mass riots, freeing hostages and ensuring public order. In addition, Burkit fighters are involved in anti-terrorist operations, emergency response, as well as in performing certain tasks under conditions of emergency or martial law.
The employees of the department annually confirm their high level of training at the international level. Special Forces soldiers participate in the UAE SWAT Challenge, which is called the "Special Forces Olympiad". For the second year in a row, representatives of "Burkit" demonstrate their skills, taking a leading position among special forces from all over the world. Military personnel also receive training and exchange experience abroad, which allows them to improve their professional skills.
At the solemn event, the "Burkit" fighters were congratulated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, Major General Ansagan Baltabekov. He noted that the high level of training of special forces units makes it possible to effectively ensure the security of the state and its citizens.
— The high level of training of special forces units of the National Guard, as well as other special bodies of the country, allows us to reliably ensure the security of our state and our citizens. Thanks to your professionalism, perseverance and loyalty to duty, our country can be confident in its security. Every day, each of you demonstrates that you are ready to cope with the most difficult challenges, protecting citizens and the state. This is a huge work that deserves sincere respect. I wish you good health and success in your service for the benefit of our state," said Major General Ansagan Baltabekov.
By the way, the special purpose unit "Burkit" is rightfully considered the elite of the troops. His fighters are a model of courage, professionalism and devotion to the Motherland. Many of them have been awarded state awards for dedication in the performance of service and combat missions. The tests for the maroon beret and the badge of the special forces, famous for their complexity, remain a symbol of the highest readiness to perform tasks of any complexity.
It is worth noting that in November 2023, a presentation of the feature film "Burkit special forces unit" about the courage and dedication of the servicemen of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Almaty. The film was shot by order of the state support center for National Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where the best Kazakhstani dream cast actors were involved, the installation work was carried out by a director of editing from Hollywood.
Over the 25 years of the unit's existence, the Burkit fighters have repeatedly demonstrated heroism and loyalty to their duty, remaining a reliable support for the state and its citizens.
The event ended with a festive concert, which was attended by the song and dance ensemble of the National Guard. Pupils of the military-patriotic club "Zhas Burkit" of military unit 5573 made a demonstration performance in hand-to-hand combat. The song "Burkit ulandary – yerlik Zholynda" was performed by the winners of the amateur performance contest of the "Burkit" units - military personnel of military unit 3502 and soloists of the male choir of the song and dance ensemble. The culmination of the evening was the performance of musical compositions "Biz bolmasak onda kim?!", as well as the works "Eldin Korgany" performed by a trio of soloists of the ensemble.
