On December 10-13, 2024, the Kazakh delegation headed by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Satkaliev was on a working visit to the People's Republic of China.
In Beijing, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with the Head of the State Department of Energy H.Wang and Vice Chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency of the People's Republic of China Ts.Liu.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, oil and gas, electric power industry and renewable energy sources. At the same time, the Chinese side expressed a high degree of readiness to support Kazakhstan in the implementation of the NPP construction project.
A. Satkaliyev also held talks with a potential supplier of nuclear technology included in the "shortlist", the CEO of the Chinese National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) Ya.Shen.
The delegation also visited the Zhangzhou nuclear power plant under construction with the HPR-1000 reactor; the production facilities of the Shanghai Electric Atomic Energy Corporation and a uranium conversion and enrichment plant in central China.
The visit to the uranium conversion and enrichment plant was a continuation of the work carried out by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in accordance with the Message of the Head of State K.K. Tokayev on the need to create high-conversion clusters, including conversion and enrichment of uranium.
Recall that on October 6, 2024, a republican referendum was held, at which the majority of citizens supported the idea of building a nuclear power plant. This decision is an important step towards ensuring energy security and sustainable development of our country.
