As part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, it is planned to pay WWII veterans a one-time financial assistance in the amount of 5 million tenge.
As of January 20 of this year, 120 veterans of the Great Patriotic War (hereinafter referred to as WWII) live in Kazakhstan, as well as 42,545 citizens who contributed to the victory in WWII. Among them: residents of besieged Leningrad - 67 people; former underage prisoners of concentration camps - 139 people; spouses of a deceased person with a disability due to injury, concussion, mutilation or illness received during the Great Patriotic War - 743 people; widows of soldiers who died (deceased, missing) in the Great Patriotic War - 2 people; Home front workers - 41,594 people.
Caring for veterans and home front workers, improving their quality of life - are one of the main priorities of the state social policy. Social protection measures for the elderly are implemented both at the central and local levels.
Firstly, the size of pensions and other social benefits increases annually. 19 categories of citizens (war participants, home front workers, rehabilitated citizens, etc.) are paid a special state benefit, regardless of other social benefits.
As of January 1, 2025, the total amount of monthly social benefits received, taking into account pensions for WWII participants amounted to 262,334 tenge and for persons with disabilities due to injury, concussion, mutilation or illness received during the Great Patriotic War - 279,330 tenge.
Secondly, additional measures of social support are provided to veterans. All of them have the rights and guarantees that apply to military personnel. They enjoy tax benefits, they receive qualified medical care in specialized hospitals in the cities of Astana and Almaty, and are provided with spa treatment.
Thirdly, annual payments of one-time financial assistance have become traditional.
This year, according to information from local executive bodies of regions, the capital and cities of national significance, in honor of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, 120 WWII veterans will be provided with one-time financial assistance in the amount of 5 million tenge.
