An eco-club for students opened at Karaganda Industrial University 24.02.2025
The Alive eco-club was opened at the Karaganda Industrial University. It includes about 50 students who are striving to clean up the planet. At the opening of the club, ecologist and head of the “Otrazhenie” public association Elena Varganova gave a lecture on sustainable development and held a master class on sustainable planning.– Of course, the students who joined the club have many ideas and projects. For example, our university has been collecting waste separately for a long time, and students at the chemistry and ecology department prepare their own environmentally friendly soap, candies, and cough syrups. The eco-club helps to develop such initiatives and create new ones, - believes Lidia Porokhovaya, press secretary of the KarIU.Members of the Alive eco-club have planned several events to green the university. It is also planned to build bicycle paths, where students are encouraged to refuse to travel by bus and car.Members of the KarIU eco-club are also actively promoting a program to abandon the use of single-use plastic.- There are coffee machines at the university, but there are no disposable cups. Students bring their own cups and thermoses. There are no plastic tubes, utensils, disposable dishes and containers in the buffet, - said Lidiya Porokhovaya.Interested people can visit the Ecoclub and submit their ideas for eco-actions and projects.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/karaganda/press/news/details/942371
