Four months after the launch of the Kürchum bridge: a new stage in the development of East Kazakhstan 21.02.2025
On the instructions of the head of state, the longest bridge in the country, which crosses the Bukhtarma reservoir in the East Kazakhstan region, is under construction. The project is aimed at solving the long-standing problem of transport communication in the region.“For years, people traveled by ferry in the summer, and on ice in the winter. It is clear that this was very inconvenient and dangerous. Now the problem has been solved once and for all,” said President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.Today, the bridge in Kurchum connects the Kurchum, Bolshoy Naryn, Markakol, Katonkaragay, Tarbagatay and Zaisan districts of the East Kazakhstan region with the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, ensuring safe movement of vehicles all year round. In the first four months, about 170 thousand cars passed over the bridge. That is, about 1.5 thousand cars use the bridge every day. It is worth noting that previously, residents of the region were forced to take a detour of up to 500 kilometers. This significantly increased travel time and transportation costs. The construction of the bridge was carried out by a domestic company in the East Kazakhstan region. This allowed attracting local resources and specialists, providing new jobs in the region. The project was implemented using advanced engineering technologies and in accordance with all quality standards. The total length of the bridge is 1,316 meters, and the width is 12.2 meters. A pedestrian walkway is built on one side. To protect the structure in the winter, special icebreakers are installed on each of the supports that are not damaged. In addition, the distance from the water surface to the bridge is 18 meters. This allows ships to pass under the bridge without obstacles during navigation. To ensure safety, 102 video surveillance cameras are installed on the new bridge across the Bukhtarma reservoir, 62 of which are located in the upper part of the bridge and 40 in the area under the bridge. The cameras operate online, which provides constant monitoring of the road condition.Residents of the region say that the bridge has solved the problem of transport between settlements on both sides of the reservoir. This bridge ensures the safe movement of citizens, accelerates the movement of goods, and provides access to all necessary services and needs of the population. The bridge in Kurchum is not just a building, but a symbol of a new process and new opportunities for the entire region. As local resident Aibar Erikov noted, the bridge has become “a door to the big world”: “I remember waiting for the thick ice to freeze in winter to get to the other side of the Bukhtarma reservoir. Now we don’t think about it! You get in the car - you get out on the other side. For us, this bridge is like a door to the big world. Getting to the city is much easier, faster and safer.” Small business owner Ainash Orazbayeva says that trade in the region has revived: “Previously, delivering goods to us was a real quest: in the summer - by ferry, in the winter - on ice, and in the off-season, nothing was brought. Now goods are delivered without interruption, the assortment in stores has increased, prices have stabilized. It is much easier to work across the bridge, and comfortable living conditions have been created for people.” Heavy truck driver Murat Ramazanov talked about saving the road and time on the road: “Before, I had to drive an additional 500 kilometers to bypass the Bukhtarma reservoir. Because I don’t like extremes by nature and I didn’t want to test the strength of the ice with the weight of my car. Now I’m crossing the bridge. This is a great opportunity to save not only fuel, but also time and nerves." The bridge in Kurchum not only gave impetus to the socio-economic development of East Kazakhstan, but also had a positive impact on the development of the country's transport and logistics sector as a whole, improving logistics routes and ensuring uninterrupted communication with border countries. The bridge will also undoubtedly increase the tourism potential of the region and provide an opportunity to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the region and the Bukhtarma reservoir.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/transport/press/news/details/939046

Using vegetable reserves and weekly fairs: Serik Zhumangarin held a meeting on stabilizing prices for socially significant food products 21.02.2025
Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin held a meeting on the issue of stabilizing prices for socially significant food products (SSF).According to the National Statistics Bureau, in January this year, the annual inflation rate in Kazakhstan amounted to 8.9%. The price dynamics were influenced by non-food goods and paid services. The annual growth rate of non-food goods increased by 8.4%, and the price of services increased by 13.8%.According to Aizhan Bizhanova, First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration, the SSF price index increased by 0.3% over the past week, and by 2.2% since the beginning of the year. This is due to the seasonal increase in the price of vegetables (cabbage, carrots, onions). An increase in the price of beef (1.2%) and sunflower oil (1.1%) was also recorded. From the beginning of the year to February 11, the highest growth was observed in Ulytau (4.8%), Aktobe (3.8%) and East Kazakhstan (2.7%) regions. In order to regulate prices, the release of products from stabilization stocks in the regions continues. According to Vice Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Taszhurekov, only 45.4 thousand tons of vegetables were sold out of the total 156.9 thousand tons of stocks. In some regions, the pace of vegetable sales is below the established volume, which leads to an increase in prices. For example, in Abay region, only 486 tons of potatoes out of 2.8 thousand tons were sold, as a result of which prices increased by 24.2%. A similar situation is observed in some regions with regard to the prices of carrots, cabbage and onions. He also said that according to akimats, at the end of January, excluding stocks in subsidiary farms, potato stocks amounted to 327 thousand tons. Meanwhile, from January 23 to February 14, the population's consumption amounted to 73.5 thousand tons. “Excluding private households, the stock of 253.5 thousand tons of potatoes will allow us to fully cover the domestic needs of the population until the early ripening crop of 2025 is received,” said Yerbol Taszhurekov.Serik Zhumangarin drew the attention of the meeting participants to the need to accelerate measures aimed at stabilizing food prices. The main goal is to promptly release products from stabilization stocks and hold weekly fairs in regions and megacities.“In order to avoid price fluctuations and any restrictions on sales, it is necessary to eliminate the difference in product prices at stabilization points. It is also necessary to work closely with municipal markets and trade networks. It is necessary to ensure the sale of products from stabilization stocks in February-March and the delivery of fresh vegetables in April. "These are the main tasks that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade and Integration will solve together with the regions to maintain the stability of social food prices in the off-season period," Serik Zhumangarin concluded. Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds of the danger of thin ice 21.02.2025
The three-month results of the republican propaganda and prevention campaign "Ice-2025", launched in November by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, have been summarized. According to the forecast of Kazhydromet, air temperatures are rising throughout Kazakhstan. In a number of regions, the ice cover of water bodies is deceptive, and the ice structure has begun to change. As part of the campaign, as well as increasing the threat to the health and life of the population, rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted more than 13 thousand raids and patrols on the country's water bodies as part of mobile groups. During the raids, safety on ice and the rules of ice fishing were explained, and more than 109 thousand people were instructed in total. More than half of them were fishing enthusiasts and hunters. In order to cover the population in the highest risk zone, 1,682 places of sale of fishing tackle and other hunting accessories were covered, and promotional materials were distributed in each store. During the campaign period alone, 37 adults and 4 children were prevented from dying during raids, assistance was provided to people stuck in cars in a snowdrift, 2 fishermen lost in fog 10 km from the shore of the Shardara reservoir were found and evacuated, and 7 cars that had fallen under the ice were pulled out. It should be noted that such situations occur due to the fault of people as a result of simple violations of safety rules. Violators are held administratively liable. 336 protocols were drawn up in three months, and fines totaling more than 8 million tenge were imposed. In this case, the fine is a means of preventing death. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds that it is strictly forbidden to go out on the ice during darkness, poor visibility, freezing and thawing, and the safe thickness of ice for one person is not less than 10 centimeters. Fishing under ice with a thickness of 10 to 25 cm is allowed only with a life jacket! While on the ice:1) to go out onto thin and not completely frozen areas of ice;2) to gather in groups on separate (dangerous) sections of ice;3) to approach holes, cracks, and crevices in the ice;4) to go out onto the ice with vehicles outside the boundaries of the places designated for crossings;5) to light a fire;6) to make two grooves at a distance of less than 20 centimeters, and two grooves at a distance of less than 2 meters from other pairs of grooves;7) it is not allowed to leave equipment and garbage on the ice. The republican propaganda and prevention campaign "Ice-2025" will be held until the end of the winter season and the thin ice period in 2025! The main task of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is to prevent human deaths and provide an emergency response to emergency situations (including thin ice) in the winter period on water bodies (ice)!
