FIRST LIVER TRANSPLANTATION IN TURKESTAN REGION 21.02.2025
Liver transplantation is one of the most complex operations in modern surgery. However, thanks to the high qualification and coordinated work of the specialists of the A. Syzganov National Research Hospital, headed by Professor B. Baimakhanov, the operation in the region was successful.Patient Nurmetova Ulyana, 48 years old, suffered from cirrhosis of the liver. Since 2019, she has been under the supervision of a gastroenterologist, and was diagnosed with class B viral etiology liver cirrhosis according to the Child-Turcotte-Pugh classification. She received outpatient and inpatient treatment. The disease was complicated by portal hypertension, edema, and hypersplenism syndrome, which worsened the patient's condition. Despite long-term treatment, her condition deteriorated, and a liver transplant was the only chance to save her life.The patient's 19-year-old daughter, Elvira Sakhavitdinova, underwent a comprehensive medical examination as a donor.The liver transplant was carried out on the basis of the Turkestan Regional Clinic by specialists from the National Scientific Center for Surgery and under the supervision of Academician B.
