Akim of Aktobe region Askhat Shakharov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan Bakhtiyor Ibragimov.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Aktobe region and Uzbekistan were discussed. The Governor of the region noted that good-neighborly relations and close cooperation between the two countries contribute to the active development of mutually beneficial ties in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
It is worth noting that trade and economic relations between our countries are already actively developing. In January–October 2024, the foreign trade turnover of Aktobe region with the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 40 million US dollars. Exports of goods reached US$ 29.3 million, including wheat, flour, sunflower oil and petroleum products. In turn, imports amounted to 10.7 million dollars, where the main goods were fruits and vegetables, household appliances, nuts, dried fruits, clothing and textiles.
"We are always happy to develop cooperation. We are ready to work with your business to arrange timely deliveries of goods to ensure a stable volume in warehouses during the off-season.
I would like to mention the tourism potential of your country separately. A lot of Kazakhstanis visit Tashkent and Samarkand as tourist destinations, and also go for medical treatment as part of medical tourism.
In this regard, it is necessary to resolve the issue of direct flights between Aktobe and Tashkent. There is a great need for this, as flights are currently operated through Turkestan," the head of the region said during a meeting with the ambassador.
The Akim stressed that the favorable geographical location of the region and the developed transport infrastructure, including the international highway "Western Europe – Western China", create additional opportunities for expanding trade relations with Uzbekistan.
In turn, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov also noted that the development of air links between the regions is a promising direction. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan presented the tourism potential of his country to the participants of the meeting and stressed the importance of strengthening intercultural exchange.
"Our countries have developed good relations, which are at a high level. Today in Aktobe, for the first time, we are holding a presentation of the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, which became possible thanks to the efforts of our leaders. The situation was completely different 15 years ago, but now there are no restrictions between our countries.
It is very interesting to develop cooperation with your region. We are ready to help strengthen intercultural exchange and trade and economic ties. And the territorial proximity of our regions creates additional opportunities for cooperation," Ibragimov said.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with the Aktobe region in the supply of textiles, construction and finishing materials. The Uzbek delegation also discussed this issue at a meeting with Aktobe entrepreneurs.
At the end of the meeting, Askhat Shakharov assured the guests that Aktobe region is ready for productive cooperation and sees great potential for the growth of bilateral relations.
