Today, on December 19 of this year, within the framework of the Taza Kazakhstan program, an environmental event was also held in Semey with the participation of students of the Avicenna Medical College. The staff of the Central City Library organized a meeting with an environmental expert on the topic "My nature is my destiny." The main purpose of the events is the education of ecological culture, the formation of a sense of responsibility for environmental protection and respect for nature.
The event was attended by an invited expert, a representative of the Department of Ecology of the Abai region, who spoke in detail about the key environmental problems of the region. Among the most pressing issues, he highlighted the growing amount of waste, insufficient landscaping and pollution of water bodies. The expert stressed that solving these problems is possible only with the active involvement of every resident of the region, starting with small but regular steps — sorting household garbage, abandoning single-use plastic and participating in landscaping campaigns.
During the event, the participants discussed topical environmental issues. The students proposed specific initiatives, such as organizing volunteer actions to clean up the banks of the Irtysh and creating an online platform for teaching the basics of environmental behavior. This also includes workshops on waste recycling, tree planting campaigns, and open lectures for residents.
Special attention was paid to the role of educational institutions in the environmental education of young people. The meeting participants noted that environmental education should begin at an early age and be integrated into the educational process.
The Taza Kazakhstan program has become a real mobilization of forces: 118,850 people took part in it, including representatives of 3,646 organizations and institutions. 2,127 pieces of equipment were involved in the work. As a result, 105,209 yards were cleared, 55,169 tons of garbage were taken to landfills of solid household waste (MSW).
239 parks and squares have been cleaned throughout the region, the area around 395 monuments has been landscaped, and 772 square meters of paving stones have been repaired. 148,440 trees and 9822 shrubs were planted. Harvesting activities covered 1,087 social and 2,280 industrial facilities, as well as 971 reservoirs, including artificial ones.
