The athlete from Karaganda became the world chess champion among youth

Karaganda FIDE master member of the youth national team of Kazakhstan Daniyal Sapenov won two medals at the rapid and Blitz World Championships among youth from 14 to 18 years old. The athlete competed in the under-16 category and won gold in blitz and bronze in rapid.
In Terme Chatezh city (Slovenia), for three days, 318 participants from 36 countries competed at the chessboard for the title of the strongest.
– The blitz turned out to be especially intense, because the night before it was announced that 11 rounds of two games, white and black, would be held, – said Artem Simonyan, senior chess coach of the Karaganda region. – From ten in the morning to eight in the evening, the participants played 22 games. Vietnam, India, Slovenia, Spain, Germany, Ukraine, Hungary and others had strong teams. Having shown his best athletic qualities, Daniyal scored 16.5 points out of 22 and won a landslide victory over his rivals.
Daniyal Sapenov played at world-class competitions after a difficult and responsible final of the RK Men's Championship, where he took fifth place (7.5 points). Having played decent games with the best chess players of the national team of Kazakhstan, the young master secured his participation in the adult championship of the country in 2025.
