Astana's public transport fleet has been updated by 45%. This parameter was achieved thanks to the new buses. Over the past two years, more than 700 buses have entered the line. Mayor of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek spoke about the development of public transport and road infrastructure at a briefing in the CCS.
"On behalf of the Head of State, a Strategy for the development of an Integrated transport system has been developed and approved. One of the objectives of the program is to increase the share of public transport usage by increasing the speed of movement during rush hour, improving comfort and accessibility.
This year, work has been carried out on the average repair of 50 streets with a total length of 60 km. The construction of the bridge from Al-Farabi Ave. to Tauelsizdik Ave. has been completed, which has reduced the load on Mangilik El Ave. and provided citizens with rapid movement between the right and left banks. We are also working to improve the public transport fleet by delivering new buses to the city every year," the Mayor of Astana said.
For example, this year more than 300 buses have entered the line. In two years, 706 new buses have been added to the bus fleet. Thus, the city's car park has been updated by 45%.
In 2025, it is planned to increase the public transport fleet by another 300 units.
