As part of his working trip to Mangystau region, Vice Minister of Agriculture Amangali Berdalin visited the port of Sarzha in the village of Kuryk, where he took part in the first sailing of ships for commercial fishing of sprats.
Commercial fishing in the Mangystau region was developed until 1991, when the Mangyshlak Rybkholodflot enterprise operated, providing the region and other countries with fish products.
Three decades later, the Mangystau region is reviving the traditions of commercial fishing. For the first time in 30 years, ships have entered the Kazakh part of the Caspian Sea for commercial fishing.
This significant event was made possible by the implementation of the President's instructions on the development of the fishing industry and ensuring the country's food security.
One of the first steps was the acquisition and registration of two trawling vessels by Aktau Balyk Company LLP. It is planned that with their help the company will extract about 10 thousand tons of Caspian sprat per year, providing the country's domestic market with high-quality fish.
Next year, to increase the catch volume to 30,000 tons, the company intends to expand the fleet by purchasing four more modern trawling vessels.
The project of Aktau Balyk Company LLP is an important step for the development of the fishing industry in the region, contributes to the creation of jobs, the increase of domestic specialists in the field of commercial fishing, and the strengthening of food security.
