As part of the nationwide program "Taza Kazakhstan", the first season of the environmental campaign for the collection of plastic caps, which lasted about 2 months, has been successfully completed in Almaty.
The initiative, aimed at drawing attention to environmental issues, brought together students from about 200 schools and kindergartens.
– We are glad that a large number of schoolchildren and parents were involved in the action. It is a symbol of the fact that children develop a careful attitude towards the environment. There were interesting stories - parents called me who told me that their children were taking away the lids from their drinks at home," says Evgeny Mukhamedzhanov, founder of the ECO Network startup, with a smile. - It is also encouraging that parents are interested in ecology thanks to their children. We are glad that the akimat launched such a project and it turned out to be very successful.
As a result of joint efforts, the participants collected more than 1.26 million plastic caps.
Three districts of the city became the leaders of the action:
Zhetysu district – 570 kg (22.7% of the total volume);
Almaly district – 484 kg (19.3%);
Auezovsky district – 328 kg (13.0%).
Of all the participants in the city, the top 3 winners were determined.:
1st place - school No. 6;
2nd place - school No. 144;
3rd place - kindergarten No. 132.
The winners of gymnasium No. 6 of the Auezovsky district collected 120 kilograms of caps within 2 months, thereby overtaking all 200 participants.
– We have been participating in the campaign for several years, we learned about this from the education department. Our children took a very active part in this action - even between classes they competed with each other. We saw how they were very interested in collecting lids wherever they could," says Rosa Dosanova, Deputy Director for Educational Work at Gymnasium No. 6. - Parents also participated in the action. Through such activities, children gain knowledge about what kind of garbage there is, how it can be recycled, and also why we sort it. This promotion is very good! Thank you very much to all the organizers! Our school will continue to participate in such actions," she said.
Bike shredders will be given to all three winners as a gift, thanks to which they will be able to grind caps at home and transfer raw materials to the eco-hub for processing and creating various things.
In addition, lectures on ecology will be organized for the winners in the ecohub, and they will also be able to make Christmas tree toys from recycled plastic with their own hands.
The event also included an eco-fair with unique products and workshops on waste recycling, as well as training sessions on environmental practices.
The organizers emphasize that in 2025, the campaign to collect plastic caps will become a permanent part of the overall campaign to create an ecological culture in Almaty. Such initiatives not only beautify the city and remind of the importance of waste recycling, but also instill responsibility for the preservation of the environment.
