A solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the monuments of Heroes of the Soviet Union Ivan Panfilov and Bauyrzhan Momyshuly was held in Astana in honor of the soldiers' birthday, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
The event is organized by the City Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. It was attended by deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Akimat of Astana, military personnel, members of the APK, young activists and residents of the capital.
The purpose of the event is to perpetuate the memory of the heroism and bravery of the legendary warrior heroes who contributed to the victory over the fascist invaders during the war, and to foster a sense of patriotism among the younger generation.
The ceremony began with a solemn performance of the national anthem.
"Today's laying is a tribute to the memory and respect of the heroes of Kazakhstan who defended our country during the Great Patriotic War. This event is an initiative of the House of Friendship. So, first we laid flowers at the monument to Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov, and then, together with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the birthday of our batyr Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. Each of them is an outstanding personality who has contributed to the history of independent Kazakhstan. We decided to celebrate their services to the Motherland in this way and remember their exploits. The main purpose of the event is the patriotic education of our youth. Regardless of nationality and age, every Kazakhstani should honor the memory of heroes and know the history of his country. In addition, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we are discussing future plans," said Lyazzat Kusainova, Deputy Head of the Astana City Department of Internal Policy.
According to Amirzhan Alpeisov, Deputy Chairman of the capital's APK, the birthdays of such heroes as Ivan Panfilov and Bauyrzhan Momyshuly are historical dates of great importance in the upbringing of Kazakhstanis.
"When we talk about heroes, we first of all recall the defenders of the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Today we laid a wreath to General Panfilov, whose birthday is celebrated on January 1. Speaking of General Panfilov, we recall the creation of the 316th Infantry Division, formed in Almaty. 80% of its members were citizens of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
It is worth noting that we recently celebrated the Independence Day of Kazakhstan, and now, on the eve of the New Year, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan has decided to organize this event. In addition, today we celebrate another historical date — the birthday of the pupil and pupil of General Panfilov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly.
We remember the love of the soldiers for the Motherland and the heroism shown during the war. This event is important not only for the upbringing of Kazakhstanis, but also for all mankind. The life and work of such people are an example of true patriotism," Amirzhan Alpeisov said.
At the end of the event, participants laid baskets of flowers at the monuments on behalf of the Mayor's Office of Astana, the Ministry of Defense and the City Council of Veterans.
