On the eve of the New Year holidays, a raid inspection of retail outlets of pyrotechnic products has begun in Astana. The raids will last from December 23 to January 3 in order to prevent illegal trade in pyrotechnics, ensure the safety of residents of the capital and comply with the established rules. This was announced at a briefing in the city communications service by Azamat Amen, senior inspector for special assignments of the control group for the turnover of civil and service weapons, the official website of the city akimat reports.
Astana police and emergency departments organized raids. Raids include markets, shops and trade pavilions where pyrotechnic products are sold.
In total, since the beginning of the year, 19 unscheduled inspections have been carried out in Astana, and administrative fines have been imposed in the amount of 13.3 million tenge. Of these, 11.8 million tenge was collected.
"We urge residents of the capital to observe basic safety rules when using pyrotechnics. This will help to avoid unpleasant situations and maintain a festive mood," said Azamat Amen.
To avoid risks when using pyrotechnics, experts recommend buying products only in specialized stores with certificates, checking the expiration date, launching fireworks at a distance of at least 50 meters from buildings and trees, and not using them in windy weather. Experts note that on new year's Eve, the number of victims of improper use of pyrotechnics increased significantly. In 2023 alone, several dozen injuries and fires associated with pyrotechnics were recorded in the capital.
