A scientific and practical conference "30 years of maslikhats: The role of the Almaty Maslikhat in the socio-economic development of the city" was held in Almaty. The event was attended by Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Dosayev, deputies of the Senate and Maslikhat of Almaty, ex-secretaries of the Maslikhat, public and political figures.
The mayor noted that over the past three decades, the role of maslikhats has increased significantly. In 2022, at the initiative of the Head of State, one of the most important political reforms was carried out. Following the results of the republican referendum, amendments to the Constitution were adopted, which outlined specific measures to improve the activities of all branches of government, including local representative bodies.
In 2023, the elections to the Almaty Maslikhat were held under new rules for the first time. The deputy corps was updated by 67% and was formed according to a mixed principle. 50% were based on party lists, and 50% were self-nominated.
"Since 2022, we have adopted more than 20 strategic documents defining the systemic development of Almaty in all areas. These are the Rules for the improvement of the city's territory, the Rules for the maintenance and protection of green spaces, the program "Unified Standard of primary health care in Almaty until 2030", the Housing Renovation Program until 2030, Building Rules, Urban Planning Regulations and other documents. These important initiatives are the result of joint active work on permanent commissions and with deputy factions of the Maslikhat," Yerbolat Dosayev said.
The mayor of the city added that in the coming years there is an important task of deep transformation and transformation of Almaty into one of the most modern megacities with a comfortable urban environment, a high level of security and attractiveness for investments and talents from all over the world.
