For the first time in 14 years, the Maslikhat of Almaty has revised the minimum tariff for housing costs.
According to the Department of Employment and social programs of Almaty, a draft decision of the maslikhat of the city is being developed, aimed at providing additional social assistance in connection with the increase in the tariff for long-term housing from January 2025.
Assistance will be provided to homeowners from among socially vulnerable segments of the population who are recipients of this service, whose tariff for housing and communal services was below 40 tenge per 1 sq. m.
It is assumed that the amount of compensation will be 0.2 MCI. The project is currently under approval.
It should be noted that on behalf of Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dosayev, from July 1, 2023, citizens from the category of socially vulnerable segments of the population will receive social assistance in connection with an increase in utility tariffs in the amount of 0.8 MCI.
Recall that the issue of tariff increases was supported by the townspeople. Earlier, the Association of Cooperative Owners of Premises noted that the previous tariff rates, which have not changed since 2010, did not provide an adequate level of maintenance for houses, especially the old housing stock and the comfort level for residents. This was not enough to carry out the necessary repairs and maintenance of houses, given the rising prices of building materials such as shut-off valves (an increase of 30% over the past year), as well as other consumables such as insulation and paint.
