The agricultural departments of Kazakhstan and Russia seek to simplify trade in agricultural products

A meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation Aidarbek Saparov and Oksana Lut took place in Astana today. The parties discussed topical issues of cooperation in the field of agriculture.
"Kazakhstan and Russia are strategic partners in all areas of cooperation, while the agro–industrial complex occupies a special place in it. Today's meeting is an excellent opportunity to discuss topical issues in detail, focus on finding solutions to eliminate existing barriers in order to make our cooperation even more productive," said Aidarbek Saparov.
He stressed the importance of the meeting to expand opportunities for trade in agricultural products, adding that Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation ensure the transit of significant volumes of goods through their territories, including grain.
"Through joint efforts, we will be able not only to deepen economic ties, but also to reach new levels of interaction that will be beneficial for both our farmers and consumers," the minister added.
In turn, Oksana Lut noted that our countries have significant potential for expanding cooperation. In particular, in the scientific and technical field, primarily in the field of crop breeding, animal genetics and biotechnology. In addition, Russia and Kazakhstan can strengthen cooperation in training personnel for the agro-industrial complex, primarily through the creation of joint network educational programs and double degree programs.
As part of the working trip of the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation to Kazakhstan, representatives of the two countries considered a number of problematic issues. In particular, trade obstacles and difficulties of transit of crop products and goods controlled by veterinary control were discussed.
Special attention was paid to issues of scientific and technical cooperation, including in the field of breeding and seed production, agricultural education, interaction on technical regulation and tariff regulation within the EAEU.
Also, the Russian side was presented with a pool of Kazakhstani information systems used in the agro-industrial complex.
Aidarbek Saparov focused on the significant progress in synchronizing information systems for the rapid transmission of data and accounting for the movement of goods between our countries.
